Kennedy Musonda of Zambia continued his excellent form with Young African (Yanga F.C.) of Tanzania by scoring the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over Kaizer Chiefs in a pre-season friendly game played at Benjamin Mkapa stadium.
The Tanzanian Giants, still the oldest football team in the nation, celebrated their 88th anniversary and played in front of a sold-out stadium with a capacity of 60 000 spectators.
In order to introduce their newly acquired players and the new season’s clothing, the Tanzanian squad invited the Soweto giants to the traditional Mwananchi Day, also known as Citizen Day, this year.
At the stroke of halftime, Musonda scored with a beautiful lob over Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune, which was sufficient to separate the two teams at the game’s conclusion.
The Tanzanian heavyweights were denied a treble last season because they lost the CAF Confederations cup on away goal rule, but the Zambian international was crucial in helping them win the league title and the Azam Sports Federation Cup.

The 28-year-old, who played in the first half of the season and scored 11 goals for Power Dynamos, also won the Zambian Super League.
