Despite their recent dominance in the Premier League, City has yet to replicate their success in the FA’s Premier Cup competition, winning the trophy twice since their rise to prominence.

Both teams are looking to end their respective FA Cup droughts; City last won the trophy in 2019, while United last did so in 2016.
City defeated United 6-3 in the Premier League in October, but the Red Devils avenged that defeat in the reverse fixture with a 2-1 victory at Old Trafford in January.
