Southampton and Newcastle will meet in the Carabao Cup semi-finals tonight. The Saints defeated Manchester City to reach the final four.

Newcastle defeated Leicester 2-0 to advance to the semifinals. Both teams have only met once before in the league cup, with the Saints winning 4:1.

Meanwhile, Southampton has only won one of their last 11 meetings with the Magpies in all competitions (three draws and seven losses) and a 2-0 victory at St. Mary’s in November 2020.

This season, Newcastle beat Southampton 4-1 in the Premier League last November.

Southampton, will, however, be hoping for a positive result in the first leg tonight if they can frustrate their opponents, who have recently proven to be a difficult nut to crack.
