Mufulira Wanderers have had a slow start to their transitional MTN Super League campaign after opening with a 1-4 defeat at home to Green Eagles and drawing 0-0 with Red Arrows last weekend at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.
However, despite the poor start, the team’s head coach, Lameck Banda, has assured fans that their first win will come soon.
“The first win is something that we are also yearning for, but I think we will get it anytime soon,” Banda assured Mufulira fans.
The tactician also admitted that the team’s lack of goals is worrisome.
“Scoring has been worrisome. We always create chances, but I think the finishing is something that we need to work extra hard on,” he said, adding that his players are also lacking self-belief.
“They can do it; it’s just the conviction and self-belief that is still lacking with the boys.”
“In our transition from defense to attack, I think we are too slow and that helps the opponents to regroup, so if we can work on that one, I think we will be able to get the goals that we need.”
After week two in the transitional league, Mufulira Wanderers are sitting second from the bottom in Stream B with just one point and one goal scored.
They will travel to Ndola for their next match against ZESCO United on Sunday, which will be played at the Trade Fair Grounds.
