The Copper Queens, has left Lusaka for Kampala, Uganda, ahead of Thursday’s first-leg encounter in the 2028 Olympic qualifiers.
The team, comprising mainly locally based players, departed Kenneth Kaunda International Airport aboard a RwandAir flight at 14:48 on Sunday.
Eight foreign-based players will join the squad in Kampala to complete head coach Charles Haalubono’s 25-member travelling squad.
Among the foreign-based stars expected to link up with the team are Barbra Banda of Orlando Pride, Racheal Kundananji of Bay FC, Prisca Chilufya of Angel City FC.
Others are Mercy Chipasula of KB Køge, Margret Belemu of Ra’anana Women’s FC, Martha Tembo and Lushomo Mweemba of Hakkarigucu Spor, and Ireen Lungu of Sichuan in China.
Haalubono has named a 25-member squad drawn from both domestic and foreign-based players as Zambia begins its bid to qualify for the 2028 Olympic Games.

The Copper Queens are scheduled to arrive in Kampala around 03:00 on Monday. The squad will continue preparations for the opening leg against Uganda on Thursday.
