Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed his desire to continue playing international football beyond the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup and said, he wants to feature at Euro 2024.

The Manchester United FC forward made this revelation when the Portuguese Football Federation’s annual Quinas de Ouro awards ceremony on Tuesday night

In his acceptance speech, the forward insisted that his time with the national team is far from finished.

I hope to be a part of the Federation for a few more years,’ Ronaldo said. ‘I still feel motivated, my ambition is high. My path to the national team is not over. We have many quality youngsters. I will be at the World Cup and I want to be at the European in 2024,

Revealed Ronaldo.

He also received an honorary award for being his country’s record goal scorer and took to social media to show gratitude for the gesture from his country.

Proud to win the award for the best national scorer for the country that I love! Thanks again to all my teammates, coaches, my family, friends and all my fans who helped me to achieve this great achievement! Together we will continue to break all possible records!

Wrote Ronaldo on his Instagram page.

Ronaldo will be 39 years old by the time Euro 2024 takes place in Germany with qualifiers for the tournament set to start in March 2023.

He will equal the record for the most World Cup appearances when he features in Qatar this November as he is set to captain the Portuguese side that was pitted in Group H against Ghana, Uruguay and South Korea.

Ronaldo has thus far earned 189 senior caps and netted 117 goals – making him the highest scorer in men’s international football history.

He made his debut for Portugal at the age of 18 in a 1–0 win over Kazakhstan on 20 August 2003 and since then, earned a place in the national team’s starting 11 to become the country’s most-capped player and later assumed the captaincy of the team in July 2008.

In 2015, Ronaldo was named the best Portuguese player of all time by the Portuguese Football Federation before leading Portugal to their first major tournament title at Euro 2016.

Despite not getting enough game time at Manchester United so far this season under new manager Erik Ten Hag having only started a match once this season in his 8 games where he has also only managed to score one goal, He remains a key player for Portugal who are hoping to win the FIFA World Cup for the first time in their history.
