Zanaco coach Mumamba Numba and goalkeeper Lameck Siame are wary of the danger that Chirundu United pose in Saturday’s ABSA Cup quarter-final clash at Arthur Davies Stadium.

For the second game running, the Bankers will face a lower division side, having beaten Kafue Celtic in the previous round to secure a place in the last eight of the competition.

Chirundu are looking to continue with their giant-killing antics, having seen off Numba’s former team, Kabwe Warriors, on post-match penalties following a 2–2 draw in regulation time.

Numba has told the media in a pre-match briefing that his team will not underrate the boarder boys.

“A very tricky team that we will be facing [in] tomorrow’s encounter,” Mumba said, carefully calculating his words. “We respect the team that we are playing because football is played on the pitch, so for us, we have done our preparations; the team is ready.”

Numba anticipated that the crowd will be backing Chirundu owing to the natural inclination of people to support underdogs.

For Siame, he said the players watched Chirundu’s game against Warriors and have carefully studied the opponents.

“We won’t give them room to play; we watched them during the game against Kabwe Warriors, and we respect them. We will do our best, which we believe we will do,” Siame said.

By presstime, Chirundu had not pitched up for the press briefing.
