Copper Queens player ratings vs Canada, FIFA Series 2026

Mercy Chipasula together with Barbara Banda got a rating of 6/10. Chipasula was Zambia's spark particularly in the first half, recovering possession and making impressive runs on the right wing.

Canada outclassed Zambia in the opening match of the 2025 FIFA Series tournament walloping them 4-0 in Cuiabá, Brazil on Saturday.

A first-half brace from Nichelle Prince and a late double from Anabelle Chukwu sunk the Copper Queens on Saturday.

BolaNews presents the player ratings of the Copper Queens as they fell to Tokyo 2020 Olympics gold medalists.

GOALKEEPER

Hazel Nali (6/10): She was proactive between the sticks, coming out to collect crosses and punch the ball as well as making incredible saves.

DEFENDERS

Margret Belemu (5/10): She did not put in her trademark crosses.

Margret Gondwe (5/10): She was guilty of making the poor clearance that led to the second goal but did cut out every other ball in the box.

Mapalo Maluba (5/10): Not her best performance at centre back in a Copper Queens jersey. She ran out of fuel and lost concentration late on.

Racheal Nachula (4/10): She went toe to toe with her winger in the first half but was given a run for her money by substitute Olivia Smith, the third most expensive player in women’s football history.

MIDFIELDERS

Agness Musesa (4/10): Playing as an extra centre back out of possession and a defensive midfielder when Zambia got the ball, Musesa eventually got overwhelmed by her role.

Susan Banda (4/10): She was a passenger in the middle of the park in the first half.

Natasha Nanyangwe (5/10): Often used to pulling the strings on the midfield, Nanyangwe had to adjust to playing as a supporting striker, pressing the opposition defence upfront.

FORWARDS

Ngosa Chabwe (4/10): A very quiet outing from the exciting winger.

Agness Phiri (4/10): The striker did not get enough touches of the ball and had to make way for Barbra Banda.

Mercy Chipasula (6/10): Chipasula was Zambia’s spark particularly in the first half, recovering possession and making impressive runs on the right wing.

SUBSTITUTES

Barbra Banda (6/10): While she didn’t enjoy much of the ball, Banda offered some attacking threat upfront creating a big chance for Chilufya before missing the target from a direct freekick by a few feet.

Grace Chanda (5/10): She was so impressive when she just came on, pulling the strings in midfield but her performance declined.

Rhoda Chileshe (4/10): Chileshe was more involved in the play than Susan Banda though still not enough to turn the tide in Zambia’s favor.

Prisca Chilufya (3/10): The forward was off-key vs Canada, with poor first touches, disappointing ball control, way-ward passing letting her down.

Martha Tembo (4/10): She made some defensive interventions but her passing especially under pressure was not to standard.

Lushomo Mweemba (3/10): The centre back looked like a player that had not trained with the team, looking rusty and making errors.

Mary Mambwe (4/10): She had some good touches of the ball but nothing to show for it.

COACH

Charles Haalubono (4/10): The gaffer might have not started the personnel he wanted to but he has to get his tactics right if Zambia is to avoid another drubbing.
