The Association’s spokesperson Sydney Mungala has said the Chipolopolo Boys’ friendly match against Libya has been cancelled due to the security situation in that country which was scheduled to host the match.
Speaking in an interview on Thursday afternoon, Mungala said the Association did not receive enough assurance from Libya over the security situation in that country and as a result, FAZ saw it fit to cancel the friendly encounter but maintained that the game against Mali will still go on as planned.
The Chipolopolo boys were supposed to have two international friendly games, against Libya and Mali but there have been concerns over the security situation in that country and as a result we have cancelled the friendly game against Libya and instead we will play two games against Mali in Bamako. The first game is going to be on the 23rd of September and the second game will be on the 26th September 2022.
He said.

Mungala added that Chipolopolo coach Aljosa Asanovic has assembled a strong provisional squad for the September FIFA window because this is the only opportunity that is available to play international Football, hence it is the best time to assess different players.
I think you know that there is not going to be an opportunity to play any international friendly match, because we are going into the period were we will have the world cup, that will be starting in November to December, so that period isn’t open as a result the coach saw this FIFA window as the best opportunity to assess the players.
He further added that it won’t be easy to assemble a strong team for friendly games next year due to the fact that players are usually committed to their clubs and that’s why the coach wants to utilize this FIFA window.
