Miguel Chaiwa has quietly been turning heads in Scottish football. The Chipolopolo midfielder, who spent several seasons learning the ropes in Switzerland, is now stepping into the spotlight at Hibernian.

Chaiwa’s journey has been one of steady growth. He moved from Atletico Lusaka to Young Boys in 2022, where he initially featured in the youth team, making 28 appearances.

He progressed to the senior side with 34 outings, contributing three goals across all competitions.

After not quite making the cut at Young Boys, a loan spell at FC Schaffhausen followed. This proved to be his last stop in his Swiss chapter.

In total, he featured in 76 matches in Switzerland, developing the technical awareness and tactical flexibility that have now become central to his game.

The move to Hibernian in August 2028, for a reported £800,000, represented a significant step. At Hibernian, Chaiwa has been entrusted with a key role in the team’s 3-4-3 formation, occupying the right side of the two central midfield positions.

Chaiwa Hits New Peak In Scotland.

Unlike his time in Switzerland, where opportunities were limited, Hibernian has given him the platform to start regularly and influence games. His debut was a statement.

A goal and an assist against Legia in the Conference League showcased his readiness to perform on a bigger stage.

What has impressed observers most is Chaiwa’s intelligence on and off the ball. He reads the game well, breaking up opposition attacks with timing and precision, while also demonstrating vision in possession.

His first three games at Hibernian underline his upward trajectory. With a 6.8 rating in his last two appearances, including a challenging fixture against Celtic, Chaiwa has proven that he can handle pressure and contribute meaningfully in high-stakes encounters.

His adaptation to the Scottish game, which is quicker, more physical, and tactically demanding, has been smooth, suggesting he is hitting a new peak in his career. Chaiwa’s emergence at Hibernian is a mark of personal development.
