After previously implying that he would probably quit the army-sponsored team at the conclusion of the 2024–25 Super League season, it now looks as though Francis Mwansa, the goalkeeper for Green Buffaloes, may not be leaving the team.
Following an outstanding tenure with the North-Western powerhouses, Mwansa left Trident FC to join Buffaloes in July 2023.
Last season, Mwansa and his club The Nyanta Boys, who ended seventh in the league standings with 45 points, battled for form.
Mwansa established himself, following his senior debut for the national team in the 2023 Cosafa tournament, where he was instrumental in Zambia’s seventh Cosafa trophy victory.
However, Mwansa, whose current contract expires this month, might not depart as previously reported, according to sources close to the player who spoke to BolaNews.
“No, he is not leaving the Club for now, nothing has changed the club, and the player are still negotiating, and no final conclusion has been made yet. His contract comes to an end this June month end. Will see how it goes whether he will still be with buffaloes or he will join another team,” said the source. In the meantime, Red Arrows and Zanaco have expressed interest in Mwansa.
