Kabwe, Zambia — The Misuku Hotel in Kabwe was the backdrop for a pivotal moment in Zambian football on Friday afternoon, as the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) held its elective Annual General Meeting to chart the course for the 2025–2029 leadership term.

The elections delivered a major shake-up at the top, with Keith Mweemba clinching the FAZ presidency in a commanding victory.

Mweemba secured 45 votes, unseating incumbent Andrew Kamanga, who garnered 20. Also in the race were Adrian Kashala, who received 17 votes, and Emmanuel Munaile, who failed to register any support.

“I am feeling good. I thank God , I was very calm , I had done the work and I thank the councilors,” Mweemba told BolaNews after being announced as the winner. “Football family starts uniting today; today unity begins”

The vice presidency was undecided in the first round. In a tightly contested race, none of the three candidates achieved the required absolute majority.

Justin Mumba led the tally with 41 votes, narrowly ahead of Mutale Ng’andu with 40, while Christopher Kasale trailed with a single vote.

Under FAZ electoral regulations, a re-run was held to determine the Vice President, ensuring a clear majority in the next round of voting.

Following the re-run, Ng’andu polled 52 votes against Mumba’s 30.
