Spanish side Granada CF is in the process of acquiring free-scoring Zambian striker Ingoma Mwanza from fifth-tier outfit CD Azuaga, sources have revealed to BolaNews.

He is on the verge of joining them on an 18-month deal after impressing with Azuaga in the Tercera Federacion, where he has netted 14 goals in 17 matches.

Mwanza relocated to Spain in 2019, initially joining Madridejos before playing for Atletico Astorga, Agoncillo, Varea, CF La Solana, and Arnedo in Spain’s fourth and fifth divisions. Last season, while representing CD Arnedo in the Tercera Federacion, the Zambian forward netted six goals in 31 appearances, marking his best goal tally since his move to Spain.

At the start of the 2024-25 campaign, CD Azuaga, competing in the Tercera Federacion (fifth tier), snapped up the 24-year-old to lead their attack. Mwanza has taken Spanish football by storm this season, tallying 14 goals and two assists after just 17 league games.

The Zambian striker currently tops the scoring charts in the Tercera Federacion – Extremadura and is the highest-scoring African player in Spain’s top five divisions. His knack for scoring goals, coupled with intelligent off-the-ball movement, blistering pace, and an imposing physique, often leaves defenders in his wake.

Mwanza’s performances this season have sparked interest from several clubs in higher tiers, with Granada at the forefront to sign him.

The striker admitted to BolaNews in October that moving up the ladder in Spanish football will be cardinal to him fulfilling his dream of playing for the Chipolopolo Boys.

He will represent Granada’s B-team, Recreativo Granada, in the Spanish fourth division, allowing him to prove himself to the first team, who are currently battling for promotion back to La Liga.

Mwanza will join compatriot Peter Chikola in the Segunda Federacion, where the former Kafue Celtics star lines up for Cadiz B.
