Zesco United have signed Amine Hiver, a 25-year-old Chad international striker, from Cameroonian top-tier league side Aigle Royal de La Menoua on a two-year contract.

The striker replaces Enock Sakala, who left to join Future FC of Egypt at the end of the previous season.

The Ndola club also released former talismans Jesse Jackson Were and Lazarous Kambole, as well as Congolese striker Moise Lola Kanda.

Hiver is expected to play a key role in the strikers’ department alongside George Ngoma and Alex Ngongo, who joined ZESCO United ahead of the new season.

Let’s delve into the two major reasons why he could make an impact at Zesco United:

Ability to score and assist

Hiver scored nine goals for his former club last season and provided 14 assists. That was just in his one-year stay at the club.

The striker has demonstrated his ability to score and create scoring chances for his teammates, which Zesco lacked.

Hiver is also able to play as a right winger, which further illustrates his versatility on the field of play.

International experience

Hiver made his Chad national team debut on November 17, 2023, against Sudan. He went on to feature in two Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier matches and four World Cup 2026 qualifier matches.

The striker has played in all four of Chad’s World Cup qualifiers. But he has yet to register a goal for the national team in seven appearances.

This international experience will be key for Zesco, especially in the CAF Confederation Cup. They will kick off their continental campaign this weekend against Dynamos Football Club of Zimbabwe.

Hiver has already set his sights on being the club’s top scorer this season.

“I feel at home at Zesco United. My goal is to become the club’s top scorer,” He said. “I will do my best to help the team win trophies and advance in the CAF Confederation Cup Competition.”

Hiver is set to make his debut for Zesco United in the CAF Confederation Cup against Dynamos. The match is billed for the National Stadium in Gaborone, Botswana.
