Kansanshi Dynamos given 2024 target

Kansanshi Dynamos had not won a match since November until last weekend, and they have now been challenged to start winning again in the new year.

Kansanshi Dynamos FC president Douglas Nyirenda has challenged the team to redeem itself and start winning in the second half of the Zambia Super League.

Since the start of the 2023–24 season, Kansanshi has struggled, despite sacking their head coach, Boyd Mulwanda.

The team currently sits 14th in the league standings. Donewell Yobe is their interim head coach.

The Solwezi-based side has only collected 20 points out of a possible 54. They’ve only won four games, drawn eight, and lost six.

Last weekend, Kansanshi managed to beat Trident FC 2-1 in a Week 18 fixture played at Nchanga Stadium. It was their first win in four games.

“The new year signifies a new chapter, a chance to turn the tide and script a story of resurgence. Let’s approach the second half of the season with renewed determination, learning from the past to fuel our journey ahead,” Nyirenda said.

“Together, we are more than a team; we are a fearless force to be reckoned with. The second half of the season holds the promise of redemption and I am eager to witness the collective effort that will undoubtedly lead us to success.”

The club president added, “Our club has faced adversities before, and each time we have emerged stronger. The character of a true champion is not solely defined by victories but by the ability to rise after a fall. I have full faith that our players, coaches, and support staff will exemplify this resilience.”

The Solwezi outfit will face Mighty Mufulira Wanderers on Wednesday next week in the Super League.
