The Chipolopolo will enter an international camp on January 1, 2023, ahead of next year’s Africa Cup of Nations (AfCON).
The tournament will see Zambia return after missing the last three editions.
But before the international camp, players who will be available will enter camp in Lusaka in the coming weeks.
Avram Grant has told FAZ media that all players will be subjected to rigorous physical tests to determine their fitness.
He stated that only players who meet his three selection criteria: quality, passion, and the desire to represent the country will be selected.
“Our preparations for the AFCON will intensify in the next few weeks,” he told FAZ media. “And we will have a camp around Christmas time for local and foreign-based players.
“This will be to assess which players will be ready for the international camp and eventually the tournament.”
Grant added: “Everyone will be given an opportunity and the players that prove themselves will be in the final squad. Our physical trainer, Jamie Lawrence, will do a lot of work with the players as others have not played enough matches to be ready.”
The AfCON will kick off from January 13 to February 1, 2024, in Ivory Coast.
