Cameroon and Ivory Coast fail to qualify for 2024 WAFCON

For the first time in their history, the Indomitable Lionesses will not compete in the Women's Africa Cup of Nations, and Ivory Coast suffered a shocking 3-0 loss to Tanzania.

Copper Queens Paris 2024 Olympic Qualifiers opponents Mali rounded off an emphatic 10-1 aggregate score line against the Central African Republic to progress to the final round of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers.

Goals by Aguiecha Diarra, Aissata Traore, and Salimata Diarra ensured the Lady Eagles a 3-0 victory on home soil to set up a thrilling final against Guinea.

There were also wins for Tanzania and Kenya, who shockingly knocked out Ivory Coast and four-time finalists Cameroon, respectively.

This will be the first time Cameroon will not take part in a WAFCON, having participated in all 14 editions.

With the fixtures now set, all eyes will be on the three teams that represented the continent during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World, with Morocco the only side excluded by them being hosts of the 2024 WAFCON for the second season running.

The Copper Queens will face Angola in the next round of qualifiers on November 27 before the return fixture on December 5.

African Champions South Africa will face Burkina Faso, while Nigeria will take on Cape Verde Island.
